Rendez-vous in praag
Duco Hellema presents an exciting book in which he manages to portray the early days of the Dutch security services. His Cold War spy novel Rendez-vous in Praag is set in post-war Europe and describes the adventures of the Dutch lawyer Bob de Winter who is approached by the Dutch Foreign Intelligence Service for a mission in Czechoslovakia. The Dutch newspaper Het Parool said about the book that “Hellema tries to portray an authentic image of this period.”.

Duco Hellema is emeritus professor in History of International Relations at Utrecht University. His main focus is International Relations in the 20th century and the history of Dutch foreign relations. Rendez-Vous in Praag is his fiction debute. His most recent non-fiction book was published in 2020, Dat hadden we nooit moeten doen: De PvdA en de neoliberale revolutie van de jaren negentig which he wrote with Margriet van Lith about the Dutch social-democratic party. In 2018 he published his book The Global 1970s. Radicalism, Reform, and Crisis.
