This lecture is called The Poverty of State-Centrism in IR: Alternative Historic Role Models and is open to students, academics and professionals alike.

Jaap de Wilde is a Professor of International Relations and Security Studies at the University of Groningen and has published extensively on the subject of Security History since his dissertation in 1991 on forgotten theories of interdependence in the early 20th century. His work focuses on IR Theory, Security Studies, European Studies, Global Governance, Energy & Geopolitics
Since 2007, Jaap de Wilde is professor in International Relations & Security Studies at the Department of International Relations & International Organization and the Centre for International Relations Research, University of Groningen. He is governor of Globalisation Studies Groningen, which he co-founded in 2010. From 2013-2017 he was chairman of the Dutch Foundation for Peace Research. From 2001 to 2007, De Wilde was professor in European Security Studies at the Department of Political Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and from 1995-2007 senior research fellow in European Studies and IR Theory at the Centre for European Studies (CES), University of Twente. From 1993-1995 he worked as senior research fellow at the Copenhagen Peace Research Institute (COPRI).
